Time Machine
Time Machine protects enterprise data stored in a data lake or lakehouse. It backs data up several times a day in an open, documented format, validates every backup, and provides point-in-time recovery, tiering, and archiving.
Data Tiering
Storage tiers matched to data age and cost: hot on high-performance drives for recent data, warm on lower-cost NAS or SAN storage, cold for multi-year retention and regulatory compliance, and an Iceberg tier for low-cost archive storage on cloud.
Data archiving
Data is automatically compressed and archived to cold storage, with cloud supported as a low-cost archive destination, with the metadata needed for recovery. Retention policies per dataset keep backup and restore targeted and efficient.
Data protection
Historical snapshot versions across tiers protect against corrupted tables, malicious deletion, or data lock. Any version can be restored on demand. Recover quickly from ransomware and similar data loss events.
Fault tolerance and high availability
Runs on clusters of high-density storage servers using SAN, NAS, or cloud storage, with Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS available as disaster recovery destinations. Backups are periodically validated against production, with alerts if anything is out of sync.
